Information for visiting researchers

Security and Entry

The SBC Building new security features become operational on April 1, 2016. Researchers and visitors need to be aware of these entry procedures. It is always best to alert the SBHLA staff of your visit, although it is not required. All guests arriving by automobile are required to stop at the entry gate to gain entrance to the parking garage. Follow the instructions on the signage for entry. After parking, enter the glass doors to the Welcome Desk. Researchers walking to the building will gain entry through the front door by following the entry signage instructions. All guests will sign in and receive a guest badge. A SBHLA staff person will escort you to the 4th floor and the SBHLA.

Food and Lodging

Moderately to expensively priced restaurants and some fast food restaurants are located near the SBC building. Researchers may also eat at the LifeWay Christian Resources cafeteria across the street.

A number of moderately priced hotels are located within walking distance of the SBHLA. A few of those hotels are: Holiday Inn Express, located one-half block from the SBHLA (615-244-0150); Union Station Hotel, two blocks from SBHLA (615-726-1001); Best Western Downtown Convention Center, within walking distance from SBHLA (615-242-4311); and Comfort Inn Downtown, approximately a 15-minute walk from SBHLA (615-255-9977).

Scarritt-Bennett is within walking distance of Music Row, Vanderbilt, area shops, and restaurants.
